Youth Boundless is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors responsible for strategic oversight, fiduciary responsibility, and ensuring the organization operates in alignment with its charitable purposes and applicable laws.

Darrel Zehr (He/Him)
Darrel Zehr is a Founding Member and Board Chair of Youth Boundless, guiding the organization’s rebrand and transition from its Ugandan roots (formerly McBern Foundation) to an Ontario-based charity focused on transforming the lives of marginalized young adults. Darrel serves as National Account Manager at Newell Brands, where he brings more than three decades of sales and marketing leadership, spanning national account management, brand strategy, and execution, to Youth Boundless’ governance, strategy, and partnerships. Mark Nelson (He/Him)
Mark leads the climate and sustainability practice in Canada for design and engineering firm Arup. In his professional life, he delivers impactful, cost-effective solutions to reduce the environmental and climate impact of our cities and infrastructure. Mark is passionate about lifting up marginalized groups and, as Vice-chair, will support Youth Boundless’s mission in a range of capacities.

Marco Fiola (He/Him)
Marco Fiola has been the Principal of Glendon College, York University’s bilingual Faculty, since 2021. Prior to this, he held various administrative and academic positions at Toronto Metropolitan University. His background is in translation and interpreting. Read more

Robert Sharp (He/Him)
Robert Sharp is the co-founder, owner, and CEO of Out Adventures, an international LGBTQ+ travel company founded in 2008. He brings nearly two decades of experience leading a mission-driven organization operating across multiple countries, with a strong focus on governance, financial stewardship, and inclusive leadership. Rob Savan (He/Him)
Rob is a retired management consultant with a career spanning the financial services industry and government organizations. His work focused on organizational design and effectiveness, job design, and process re-engineering to improve performance and productivity across complex institutions, as well as the HR aspect of acquisitions & divestitures. Throughout his career, he advised senior leaders on building strong, well-governed organizations with accountable roles to support people in doing their best work. He is looking forward to contributing to youth-focused initiatives and helping strengthen not-for-profit operations.

David Hayter (He/Him)
David Hayter is an accomplished C-suite executive and board director with a track record of driving global growth and operational excellence in the financial services sector. As the former Executive Vice President and COO of Liberty Mutual Group Asset Management ($85B+ AUM) and CFO of HOOPP ($30B fund), he has led large-scale M&A, international expansions into 30 countries, and major infrastructure transformations. David has pivoted since retiring to focus on investing and working with community service organizations in a number of different volunteer capacities.

Michael Andrew (He/Him)
Michael is one of the Founding Members and Director of Youth Boundless. Michael founded McBern Foundation, which is now rebranding and expanding into Youth Boundless to scale its work internationally. He is a seasoned social entrepreneur who has spent years building practical pathways for marginalized youth and elderly communities in Uganda to access dignity, opportunity, and support. Read more
